JR News: Price revision of Hokuriku Arch Pass for foreign visitors to Japan

On 23 January this year, it was announced that the price of the Hokuriku Arch Pass would be revised. This change will apply from 16 March 2024 onwards, and is in conjunction with the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Kanazawa Station and Tsuruga Station.

 

The Hokuriku Arch Pass is a joint discounted rail pass between JR East and JR West, and it offers unlimited rides on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, selected JR East and JR West lines as well as some non-JR lines in designated areas. The rail pass is specially for non-Japanese passport holders who are travelling to Japan under the “Temporary Visitor” status.

*Note: The child must be 6 to 11 years old on the date of the rail pass purchase to be eligible for the child price. Both JR East and JR West will sell the rail pass at the same revised prices above. Sales of the Hokuriku Arch Pass at JR ticket offices in Japan will also be discontinued on 15 March 2024.

 

Date of price revision

The price of the Hokuriku Arch Pass will be revised from 16 March 2024 (Saturday) onwards. The original price will remain until 15 March 2024 (Friday), regardless of the first date of use.

After the Hokuriku Shinkansen extension from 16 March this year, travellers will have direct Shinkansen access from Tokyo to Fukui and Tsuruga. Travellers with the Hokuriku Arch Pass can enjoy unlimited train rides on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, as well as JR East and JR West lines (including bullet trains) in the valid areas for 7 consecutive days.

 

You can purchase the Hokuriku Arch Pass and make seat reservations for bullet trains, some limited express trains and Joyful Trains online with the pass for free, up to 1 month in advance, on the JR-EAST Train Reservation.
